The Police in this Province would like to condemn incidents of killings which is driven by a variety of aspects including domestic violence and others in a number of areas.

This condemnation follows the two separate killings which took place in Lephalale and Thohoyandou respectively.

In Lephalale, a 32 year old man was arrested for the brutal killing of his girlfriend. It is alleged that the local community have found the body of a lifeless woman in the open field which was in a state of decomposition near Shongwane number 1 village outside Lephalale.

The deceased was identified as Catherine Mokobe aged 34 years old who was never reported missing until this gruesome discovery. The motive behind this incident is unknown but the Police investigations will tell as they are still unfolding.

The suspect will appear before the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of murder.

Meanwhile, the Police in Thohoyandou have launched a massive manhunt for the suspects who have fatally shot a man, shot and injured another one at Khakhanwa village in the early hours of 1 October 2017, at about 04:00.

It is alleged that the deceased Shadrack Livhuwani Mathugana aged 30 years old and his 25 years friend were walking from the all night prayer service at the local Church when they met unknown armed suspects who opened fire on them without saying anything.

Both two victims were seriously injured and taken to the local hospital where Shadrack was certified dead on arrival and his friend is still recuperating with serious gunshot wounds in a stable condition.

The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage but the Police investigations are still continuing.
