A 24 year old suspect has been nabbed in Malamulele near Giyani this morning after committing a business robbery using one of the firearms that were stolen from the premises of a Security Company at Tswinga on Friday 22 December 2017.
Nineteen firearms were stolen from the premises of a Security Company at Tswinga after the burglar door and the safe were forced open with a grinder.
Subsequent to this burglary, three suspects proceeded to Malamulele where they entered the local shop, pointed the owner with firearms and demanded money. They then took an undisclosed amount of cash, an airtime printing machine, airtime, cigarettes, 2 cell phones and a digital video recorder and fled the scene.
Police members were alerted and reacted swiftly and with the assistance of community members, they chased the suspects and managed to arrest one of them.
One firearm and six rounds of ammunition were recovered. The search for the remaining suspects and the stolen guns still continues.
The arrested suspect will face charges of Housebreaking at business premises, Business robbery and Possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license.
