The Management of the South African Police Service in Limpopo has welcomed the conviction and sentencing meted out for rape of a young girl.

In Letsitele outside Tzaneen, the Regional Court in Nkowankowa have slapped an effective forty years imprisonment on a 53 year old man John Chitlango for two counts of rapes.

This emanates from an incident that occurred during 2015 after the accused who was a Security officer at Lwandlamuni High School at the time, raped a 13 year old girl at Nwamitwa, Lwandlamuni village outside Tzaneen.

The accused was declared unfit to possess firearms in terms of the South African Firearm Act.

The Saps Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Jim Ledwaba has commended all the role players who took part for their excellent and professional performance in removing this dangerous criminal from our streets.

“I understand the young girls were robbed of their dignity so early but I hope this sentences will restore their confidence and give great comfort to them especially knowing that the perpetrators will be locked in jail for life.”, concluded General Ledwaba.
