Savanna mall jewellery store robbery, 5 suspects tracked down in KZN

Members of SAPS Limpopo Tracking Team, Limpopo Murder and Robbery, Pietermaritzburg Highway Patrol, Magma Investigations, and Security and Willie K9 Security have arrested five suspects aged between 25 and 35 for business robbery incident that occurred in a jewellery store in Polokwane, Savanna mall, on Friday 12 May 2023 at around 09h00.

The suspects held employees at gun-point and robbed them of expensive jewellery.

Following the incident, the Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe activated a team of investigators to trace and arrest the suspects.

Members of Crime Intelligence provided information, which was accurately followed up to KwaZulu-Natal province in Hilton, Pietermaritzburg Policing area.

Suspects were located and arrested by the operationalized team in the evening of Friday, 19 May 2023.

During the arrest, Police recovered some of the stolen items and a get-away vehicle grey Toyota Corolla sedan.

“I am forever indebted to the commitment of men and women in blue for the breakthrough in these sophisticated criminal activities, in which Provincial Operation ‘Wu Kwihi Nawu’ yields remarkable results as our teams continue to send a clear message that our Province will never be a playground for criminals under our watch,” said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.

The arrested suspects will soon appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.
