The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba on 13 November 2020, launched the 2020/2021 Safer Festive Season Operations through roadblocks and stop and searches along the N1 South, Kranskop toll gate between Modimolle and Bela-Bela in the Waterberg District.

The launch of the Provincial festive season operations is aimed at ensuring residents and visitors of Limpopo a safer and secure environment during this holiday season.

The launch was attended by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Policing Major General Jan Scheepers, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Crime Detection Major General Samuel Manala and the Waterberg District Commissioner Major General Rosina Mulaudzi, the HOD of the Department of Transport and Community Safety, the Provincial Heads, the senior officers from other Districts, Station Commanders, other law enforcement agencies from sister Departments including the Department of Transport and Community Safety.
During his address to the joint parade, the Provincial Commissioner gave more emphasis on the following:

“The law enforcement agencies are encouraged to keep our communities safe and secure as mandated by section 205(3) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

“This event follows the launch of the National Safer Festive Season operations by the Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele on the 30 October 2020 in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State Province.”

We also recognize that serious crimes and corruption remains a priority in terms of the National Development Plan, Vision 2030 as well as the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Programme of Action in terms of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework in dealing with corruption elements within the organization and ensure that there is no room for criminals to operate in and outside the organization.
