An intelligence led operation conducted by a dedicated team of members from Makhado Cluster Detectives, Makhado Cluster First Responder Team, Waterval SAPS Crime Prevention bared fruits.

A 28 year old suspect who was being sought for a burglary case, was arrested on 11 January 2018, at about 17:30 in Mpheni Makhakhi in Waterval policing area. Upon his arrest he was found in possession of 4 rounds of ammunition.

The preliminary investigations conducted further led the police to the house of his 23 year old sister in Mavhungeni outside Waterval wherein the police discovered two 9mm pistols with serial numbers filed off and 11 rounds of ammunition.

Both suspects were detained for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and they will appear in Tshitale Margistrates’ Court on Monday 15 January 2018.

The brother will first appear in Waterval Margistrates’ Court for a housebreaking case where after he will be joining his sister in the dock at Tshitale Magistrates’ Court.

The possibility of linking the suspects to other armed robbery and house robbery cases around Makhado and Waterval policing area cannot be ruled out.
