The Police Dedicated Task Team is still on a massive manhunt for a group of armed suspects following a shootout between the security officers and suspects during an attempted cash in transit robbery at Diphagane village in the Jane Furse Policing area near Lebowakgomo yesterday.

It is alleged that on Sunday, 25 March 2018, the cash in transit security officers were on their way to fix ATMS in and around the Jane Furse area when they were overtaken by a silver Toyota Corolla with three occupants inside. The suspect allegedly ordered them to stop and subsequently started shooting at them.

The security officers retaliated and during that process, one suspect was fatally wounded and the other two were seriously injured but their accomplices loaded them into their getaway car before they fled the scene with a white Audi with registration numbers CD 27 ZG GP.

The Police were notified and reacted swiftly and also recovered the following at the crime scene: 1 x AK 47 rifle, 1 x 9mm pistol, Undisclosed amount of money and a Toyota Corolla which was allegedly robbed earlier this month in the Tubatse Policing area outside Burgersfort.

A manhunt immediately ensued where the getaway Audi was found abandoned a distance away from the crime scene.

The other suspects involved in this incident are still unknown, there is no arrest and no money was robbed.

The Police investigations are still continuing.

Anyone with information which can lead to the arrest of these suspects especially those who can see people with the gunshot wounds visiting any hospital or any health facility ,may contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501 or the crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime line sms 32211 or the nearest Police Station.
