Road rage: Couple shoot 2 men, Roerfontein

The Police in Sekgosese in the Mopani District are looking for a couple who allegedly shot two men at Roerfontein village during an apparent incident of road rage that took place on Saturday 1 January 2022.

Police had received a complaint of an alleged shooting that took place at Roerfontein public road next to a hotel and quickly rushed to the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a male suspect was allegedly called to the scene by his girlfriend who apparently reported to him that she was deprived of her motor vehicle keys by one of the motorist whom she has bumped against his stationary vehicle.

The suspect, upon his arrival at the scene and without uttering any word, shot the two men who are said to be neighbours and fled the scene in a white Nissan NP 200 vehicle.

The victims were transported with private vehicles and one of them overturned and the victim succumbed to his injuries whilst the other victim died upon arrival at the hospital.

The victims were identified as Thabo Lawrence Masia (32) and Jeffrey Masetla (38).

The Police have opened cases of murder, attempted murder and culpable homicide.

A manhunt has since been launched for the two suspects and anyone with information that can assist should contact the Investigating Officer Warrant Officer David Maseakwala on 079 809 0993 or crime stop number 0860010111 or nearest police station or MySAPS App.
