Jaco ” Sakkie” Cilliers, 38, was shot to death by apparent robbers in the early morning hours on Thursday 14 July 2022, after a night out with friends at the local rugby club in Musina, in the Limpopo province of South Africa.
Jaco, who is not married, was living together with his mother on a smallholding outside Musina where they farmed with goats (boerbokke).
A Police spokesperson said Jaco went to his bakkie at about 01:20. A security guard heard shots and saw an unknown man standing over Jaco, who was lying on the ground.
The security guard fired warning shots and saw three men running away from the scene.
Jaco was discovered dead on the scene. He was shot in the head. Only Jaco’s vehicle keys were missing. Not even his cellphone and wallet was taken.
