The situation along the Nelson Mandela drive has returned to normal. On the morning of 19 July 2017, the community of Disteneng informal settlement, on the outskirts of Polokwane went on a protest action at 03:00.

It has been reported that the area was illegally occupied and the municipality was to effect an eviction process.

Community members then decided to block the Nelson Mandela road that connects Seshego Township and the surrounding villages with the city using burning tyers and other debris.

Pops members were deployed to the area and some rubber bullets were fired to disperse the crowd that had started throwing stones at the motorists attempting to pass through the blockade.

The body of an unknown person was also found in the vicinity by the dispersing crowd.

The deceased was later identified as a 35 year from Bolobedu. The body was covered with blood and it is not yet clear what the cause of the murder is.

There is currently no information that links this incident with the earlier protests.

The suspect is unknown and there is no arrest.The Police investigations are continuing.
