Police seek Limpopo medic who killed girlfriend

Police in Limpopo were on Monday still looking for the medical doctor accused of killing his girlfriend at Tshilidzini Hospital yard in Venda over the weekend.

Police said the 25-year-old woman’s body was found with stab wounds in the doctor’s house at the local hospital. She was identified as Refilwe Makoma Mapaana, a student at the University of Venda in Thohoyandou.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect and the deceased were lovers and the deceased was from Nkowankowa outside Tzaneen. The motive of the killing is still not known but domestic violence may not be ruled out,” said spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

The dead woman’s body was discovered on Saturday. She was last seen on Monday.
