In a concerted effort to fight incidents of Trio Crimes in the province, the police succeeded in recovering a vehicle that was just hijacked at Matshwi village in Bolobedu on the night of 8 January 2018, at 21h00.

The victim, his girlfriend and a younger brother were traveling in a Red Audi A3 TSFI and when they arrived at their homestead, they were confronted by three armed suspects who demanded the car keys.

The suspects drove the vehicle with the three victims inside and along the Tzaneen – Kgapane road, they stopped and ordered them to disembark from the vehicle.

The suspects then drove in the direction of Lenyenye outside Tzneen where the police, doing their regular stop and searches in Maake policing area, stopped this vehicle at Mohlahlareng village. The suspects immediately jumped out and fled into the bushes, abandoning the vehicle.

The vehicle was searched and a 9mm firearm was found inside.

The Provincial Commissioner Lt. General Nneke Ledwaba has hailed these members for their swift recovery of the vehicle and urged them to locate the suspects. He further urged and encouraged other members to emulate this kind of continuous operations such as stop and searches as these will always yield positive results.
