The South African Police Service Dedicated joint Task Team composed of the Provincial Tracking Team, the Crime Intelligence, the Modimolle Cluster Task Team and other role players have launched a massive manhunt for a group of armed suspects involved in an armed robbery incident which occurred in the early hours of the morning on 8 January 2019, in the Modimolle Policing area.

It is alleged that at about 05:00, at the Engen One Stop Garage next to N1 South, a Toyota Quantum towing a trailer was parked at this garage after it experienced mechanical problems.

While the victims were still relaxing inside this minibus, a group of about six suspects armed with firearms, opened the doors, robbed of the driver and passengers’ money and cell phones at gunpoint. Subsequently, these suspects unlocked the trailer from the minibus in an attempt to steal this minibus but they failed and fled the scene on foot into the nearby bushes.

During this incident, a total of 16 cellphones and undisclosed amount of money were robbed.

There were no injuries or fatalities during this ordeal. The police have opened a case of armed robbery for further investigations.

The suspects involved in this matter are still unknown and there is no arrest.

Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of these suspects, should contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501 or the crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime Line SMS 32211, or the nearest Police Station.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
