The Police in Tubatse outside Burgersfort have launched a manhunt for a 32-year-old escapee, Vincent Phetla who escaped from the lawful custody on 16 July 2017, late in the afternoon.

He escaped during further investigations by the Cluster Task Team and the detailed circumstances behind his escape is a subject of our investigations.

He was arrested for a series of armed robberies which occurred in the Burgersfort and Steelpoort areas two months back and he was arrested during the week of 10 to 14 July 2017 during the ongoing Intelligent Led Joint Operation that was conducted in that Cluster composed of various Police Units led by the Provincial Tracking Team.

It is alleged that the suspect escaped near Ga-Mashamothane zone 6 village and disappeared.

Meanwhile in Motetema outside Groblesdal, the Police have also launched a manhunt for a 20-year-old escapee, Gift Tonko Tshehla from Tafelkop in Bapeding Section who escaped from lawful custody after he faked his identity of another suspect.

It is alleged that a 21-year-old man who claimed to be related to the suspect, paid bail of R300-00 for this escapee, on the name of another suspect and took him away.

This suspect was originally arrested for a rape case which he committed during 2016 and he was later linked to five more other rape cases which he committed during 2014 where he was targeting young girls.
