Police launch manhunt after suspects shoot, kill and dehorn two rhinos at Thabazimbi

Police in Thabazimbi in Waterberg District are on the hunt for unknown suspects involved in a rhino poaching incident that took place at a local game reserve.

According to preliminary reports, one of the rangers was patrolling the area on Tuesday morning, 20 February 2024 when he discovered two rhino carcasses that had been shot and dehorned.

The case was transferred to the Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit (STESU) for further investigation.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant, General Thembi Hadebe has called upon police to use their available resources to track down the suspects and arrest them to face the might of the law.

Police are appealing to anyone that can provide information leading to the arrest of the suspects to contact Warrant Officer Cois Van Deventer on 082 872 1741 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or by using My SAPS app.
