
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Burgersfort is investigating a murder following a fatal altercation in Ga-Phasha Molawetse Village over the weekend.
The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, 5 October 2025, at approximately 05:30. According to police reports, an 18-year-old male victim was walking with a friend when they were confronted by two individuals.
The suspects allegedly accused the deceased of disrespecting others. The confrontation escalated, and one of the suspects, who is reported to be a visitor to the village, produced a knife and stabbed the young man in the upper body.
After sustaining serious injuries from the sharp object, the victim’s parents were immediately alerted. He was initially transported to a local clinic for medical attention before being transferred to Mankweng Hospital for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, he tragically succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, 7 October 2025.
A case of murder has been officially opened. Police have confirmed that the suspect has been identified but remains at large. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend him.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward.
