The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has instructed the Police in Lebowakgomo under Capricorn District to use the available resources to search for nine male suspects facing charges of contravention of Explosives Act, malicious damage to property and business robbery committed at a local filling station at Zone R Lebowakgomo.

It is reported that on Wednesday 18 September 2024 at about 02:20, police were alerted about a business robbery in progress at the filling station and rushed to the premises.

Upon their arrival, police found the filling station building severely damaged together with a safe situated inside the office.

According to reports nine (09) male suspects entered the filling station wearing dresses and masks on their faces pretending to be women.

Suddenly, seven male suspects pulled out firearms and instructed everyone to get outside and lay on the ground at the back of the building while being guarded by the other two male suspects.

After a few minutes, they heard a sound of a big explosion inside the building and realized that the suspects were bombing a safe. Following the incident, the suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe and later fled the scene driving in a white Toyota GD6 Club cab bakkie.

A massive manhunt of the suspects has been launched and anyone with information that can assist with their apprehension is encouraged to contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Michael Magadani on 072 029 7499 or crime stop number 08600 10111 or nearest police station or MySAPSApp.

Police investigations are continuing.
