Police continue the fight against illegal mining, Limpopo

The South African Police Service in Limpopo’s fight against illegal mining continue to score visible results. This follows the arrest of a 38 year old man at one of the mines in the Burgersfort Policing area this week.

The suspect was arrested during a concerted operation comprising of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, the Burgersfort Cluster Public Order Police Unit and the local Mine Security guards.

This joint operation was up and running at Balotjaneng village outside Burgersfort CBD when they followed an information which led them to a certain a spot and nabbed a man who was busy mining Chrome illegally at one of the mines.

During the arrest, the Police confiscated an Excavator machine with an estimated value of R1.5 million. The suspect will appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate Court soon.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
