Pizza outlet armed robbery foiled, Tzaneen

On 14 November 2019, at about 20:15 two suspects aged 24 and 27, were nabbed by the Police in Maake outside Tzaneen, after they attempted to rob a pizza outlet at a local shopping complex. The arrest comes after various Police Units collaborated and promptly reacted on information about these suspects’ criminal intentions.

The Crime Intelligence Unit, Tracking Team Unit, Detectives, K9 Unit and Visible Policing members followed the tracks of these suspects and the suspects were spotted around this shop.

Police pounced on them and during the arrest, they managed to recover a 9mm firearm with a serial number filed off, one magazine, four live ammunition and an okapi knife.

Cases of conspiracy to commit business robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of dangerous weapon were opened for further investigations.

The suspects will appear in the Maake Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 November 2019, while Police investigations are still continuing.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has applauded the collaborative efforts by these members which led to the swift arrests.
