Soon after finishing with the roadblock on Friday 7 December 2018, staged at the weigh bridge between Musina and Beitbridge border post, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba led from the front during foot patrols that were conducted at all sections of Mmatswale settlement on the outskirts of Musina town.

Other Senior SAPS officers, the Musina Station Commander and members also formed part of the foot patrol. This area is the station’s hot spot that generates almost 90% of crimes committed in Musina policing precinct.

Undeterred by the scorching hot conditions, the Provincial Commissioner, accompanied by the HOD for the Provincial Department of Community Safety, Ms Tsebe and other members, walked from one house to the next, interacting with the residents. The members also conducted stop and searches.

This operation yielded positive results as several shebeens were closed and liquor confiscated. Ninety seven undocumented immigrants were rounded up and arrested. This brings to 169 the total number of illegal immigrants arrested during the operation operation.
