
Police in Lebowakgomo have launched a manhunt for suspects following the grim discovery of a 57-year-old shepherd’s body buried in a shallow grave at Nkotokwane Village, Ga Mphahlele. The deceased, a Lesotho national, had been reported missing two days prior.
According to authorities, the missing person case was opened on the morning of Wednesday, 09 July 2025, after the shepherd failed to return from grazing cattle. A search operation ensued, leading to the recovery of his clothing—a blue overall, yellow T-shirt, and a maroon-striped T-shirt—in nearby bushes.
The search intensified with the assistance of the K9 Unit, ultimately uncovering the victim’s lifeless body in a shallow grave on the mountain. The discovery was made on Friday, 11 July 2025, at approximately 08:00.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and detectives attended the scene, where the deceased was positively identified as the missing shepherd. While his identity remains withheld pending further investigation, police have assured the public that updates will follow as the case progresses.
