The fight against house robberies, car hijackings and business robberies (Trio Crimes) was given a major boost when the police succeeded in arresting a most wanted suspect who was sought for about ten cases.
The 39 year old suspect has been terrorizing communities in various policing precincts in the Tzaneen and Giyani Clusters respectively.
He started his reign of terror some time ago until 2018 when he was nabbed after committing yet another car hijacking at Bolobedu during January of 2018. This latest incident involves the hijacking of an Audi motor vehicle in which the suspect used his tricks in an attempt to evade justice. The vehicle was later found abandoned at his girlfriend’s house at Bolobedu.
Even though he could not initially be arrested for this specific crime, he was nevertheless later apprehended for the same offense due to the meticulous investigations conducted by the police.
The suspect somehow managed to acquire bail on three occasions and in the process, committed some of these crimes whilst out on bail.
His luck ended when the police made use of internal systems to link him to all these cases. The suspect was arrested and linked to all these cases following sterling investigation conducted by the Tzaneen VCIU (Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit Team).
This notorious suspect will be indicted with a range of charges which he is alleged to have committed during a long period.
The cases include the following: Theft of motor vehicle committed during 2012 in Maake policing area, car hijacking also committed in Maake during 2010, robberies committed in Namakgale 2015 and 2015 respectively, housebreaking in Bushbackridge during January of 2017, possession of automatic firearm in July of 2017, car hijacking in Phalaborwa during January of 2017.
The Police Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba expressed his delight in the sterling Investigative work done by all members involved. He encouraged all members to follow this example of linkages to rid this province of all repeat offenders.
The suspect will appear in Lenyenye magistrate court on Monday 5 February 2018.
