The Police in Limpopo Province are still cracking the whip on criminals who are terrorizing members of the community through various categories of crime through the continuous successful and professional investigations conducted by the dedicated Detectives workforce led by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner Detection Major General Bafana Linda.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers has once more commended the Detective Units in Mahwelereng, Giyani and Burgersfort including the FCS’ Units for their sterling work in removing the dangerous criminals and rapists from the streets for long and some for life for the safety and security of our citizens in the Province.

In Mahwelereng outside Mokopane, the following four suspects were each sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and fifteen (15) years imprisonment for robbery:

Eric Lebogo aged 21 years, David Mashishi aged 20 years, Tshepho Lentswane aged 29 years and Thabo Hlongwane aged 22 years old.

These jail terms are emanating from an incident which took place at Ga-Magongoa Village outside Mahwelereng on 29 November 2015 at about 01:30 when the suspects attacked a 19 year old girl, dragged her to a secluded area and gang raped her.

Meanwhile in Giyani, Tshedza Tshikovi aged 33 years old from Nsavulani Village was sentenced as follows:

* LIFE imprisonment for murder.
* TEN (10) years imprisonment for attempted murder.
* TEN (10) years imprisonment for burglary.
* FIFTEEN (15) years imprisonment for robbery.

The sentencing of Tshedza is emanating from an incident which took place on 25 November 2016 at around midnight when he broke and entered into the fist victim’s house where he stabbed her multiple times with a knife and raped her. He then proceeded to the second house where he broke, entered and stabbed to death a 17 year old girl after which he took her cell phone and fled the scene.

In Burgersfort, Isaac Malatjie aged 29 was sentenced to life imprisonment for two counts of rape which he committed during 2016 when he attacked and raped two girls.
