Mokwakwaila police on manhunt for a suspect who allegedly raped his 14-year-old neighbour

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has strongly condemned the recent rape incident of a 14-year-old girl by her neighbour in Mokwakwaila policing precinct under Mopani District. The incident took place on Sunday, 29 October 2023.

It is alleged that the victim was asleep at home in Lekgwareng village at about 19:34 when the suspect believed to be her neighbour forcefully entered her residence.

The suspect reportedly strangled and threatened to kill the victim if she screamed for assistance and subsequently took her to another bedroom and raped her.

Afterwards, the suspect took a Samsung cellphone belonging to the victim before fleeing the scene and have since been on the run to evade an arrest.

The victim was afraid to tell everyone about the rape ordeal but managed to inform her family the next day on Monday, 30 October 2023 and the matter was immediately reported at Mokwakwaila police station.

A case of rape was opened and later transferred to Tzaneen Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for further investigations.

A manhunt have since been launched for the known suspect and anyone with information that can assist should urgently contact the Investigating Officer, Constable Patrick Mokone on 076 424 2999 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or nearest police station or MySAPS App.
