The police at Mutale, under Thohoyandou Cluster, have on the night of 15 January 2019, launched a search operation for suspects responsible for the murder of three male persons. The three were hunted down by the local community members of Tshandama village at around 19:30 and brutally assaulted until they succumbed to their injuries.

They were accused of being responsible for a number of theft cases that were committed in the area.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has strongly condemned the actions while saying community members should refrain from taking the law into their own hands. He urged the local police to hunt down the killers and bring them to book.

The deceased were identified as Meshack Munyai (24), Azwindini Mudau (30) both from Tshakhuma and an unknown Zimbabwean male. A case of murder (three counts) has been opened for investigation and anyone with information is requested to contact the nearest police or call Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
