In the Mecklenburg Policing area outside Burgersfort, a house with all contents was torched by unknown group of community members on the night of 5 February 2018, at about 21:00 at Mandagshoek village.

It is alleged that a group of community members have attacked and torched the house of one of the local Mine manager and disappeared into darkness the suspects are unknown and there are no arrests.

The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage but the Police investigations will tell as they are still unfolding. An arson case is opened and the estimated damage caused during this incident is over R800 000.00.
