On Saturday 16 February 2019, information was received from crime intelligence about suspects who were planning to bomb ATM at Ubank Marikana The operational team followed up the information to Bapong tornado section were suspects were still having a meeting. At about 23:50 the team arrived at safe house were there was two vehicles which were going to be used a silver Toyota Avanza and Blue Ford Ranger d/c XLT.
When the team arrive the ford ranger sped off and 5 suspects were corned into the house.The arrested suspects were found with 3 firearms and different types of explosives also housebreaking equipment.
The Ford ranger that fled the scene was later found abandoned on R518 with double puncture the vehicle when circulated was found to be hijacked as per Bedfordview. Also there were several balaclavas and hand gloves seized from suspects.
The suspects age range between 35 and 52 and were detained at Mooinooi saps for conspiracy to commit crime
Possession of explosives and prohibited firearms and ammunitions.
