Manhunt: Violent criminal among 3 escapees, Tinmyne

The Police in Tinmyne outside Mokopane have launched a manhunt for three awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from the police cell in the early hours on 1 July 2020, at about 01:45.

The suspects are as follows:

• Moses Kgathola Kekae aged 34 and was arrested for two counts of murder, attempted murder, theft and assault common
• Philip Madimetja Chokwe aged 35 and was in custody on a charge of rape
• William Motshudi aged 20 and was arrested for housebreaking and theft

The first suspect, Moses Kekae is extremely violent. During his initial arrest in October 2019, after he was sought for murder and assaulting his own mother, he attacked police members who came to arrest him, by stabbing a police Captain and also assaulting a Sergeant.

Community members are advised not to attempt to arrest them if they come across any of the escapees, but must instead call the police.

All escapees were previously remanded in custody and were scheduled to appear in Mahwelereng Magistrates’ Court on different dates this month on 3, 7 and 9 July 2020.

Investigations into the circumstances of the escape have already begun and we make an appeal to anyone with information about these escapees to contact Warrant Officer Frans Ngobeni on 078 157 7670 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police.
