LIMPOPO — Law enforcement officials have launched an urgent manhunt following a terrifying Mavele Village armed robbery that left multiple residents robbed and several vehicles damaged. The violent incident, which unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, October 27, 2026, involved a heavily armed gang targeting a residential yard.
The ordeal began at approximately 01:15 when a 38-year-old woman and her husband were asleep in their rented home. Awakened by the sound of gunshots at the main gate, the woman looked out her window to see more than 20 unknown male suspects, armed with firearms and rifles, breaching the property. The intruders forcibly broke through a wall adjacent to the couple’s door, entered the residence, and held the pair at gunpoint.
During the Mavele Village armed robbery, the suspects demanded money and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, a Samsung plasma television, a cellphone, an HP laptop, a pair of boots, Nike sandals, and the keys to the couple’s metallic silver Volkswagen Tiguan.
The gang did not stop there; they proceeded to ransack six other rented rooms within the same yard. Inside the additional rooms, the gunmen robbed male victims, ranging in age from 26 to 43, of their cash, cellphones, and a pair of Nike takkies. In total, the gang is responsible for seven counts of house robbery.
Before fleeing the scene, the suspects fired multiple shots and maliciously damaged the tires of six motor vehicles parked in the yard, resulting in six additional charges of malicious damage to property. The gang escaped in a white Toyota Hilux Legend 35 bakkie belonging to the 38-year-old female victim. The stolen vehicle was subsequently discovered abandoned within Mavele Village.
Investigating officer Sergeant Junior Maake is leading the probe and has officially opened cases for the seven house robberies and six counts of property damage. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the Mavele Village armed robbery to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
