The community of Seshego will sleep peacefully again knowing that the serial rapist that was terrorizing their village, was sentenced to an effective twenty years imprisonment at Bisho High Court on 22 November 2018.

Mayizole Dingiso (35) from Lower Sheshegu in Alice was found guilty and positively linked through DNA on two rape charges and other crimes. After getting unlawful entry at the premises the accused raped a 72 year old woman. On the same day the suspect stole a DVD player from the victim’s house.

The suspect raped another victim, a 57 year old woman not far from the place where the initial crime was committed on 11th October 2014 also at Lower Sheshegu in Alice.

He was sentenced as follows: Housebreaking with intent to rape- five years, Rape – twelve years, Theft- Two years, Housebreaking with intent to rape-five years and rape twelve years.

The sentence was handed down by Judge Belinda Hartley who elucidated that the suspect meticulously planned these attacks after identifying elderly and vulnerable victims

The two survivors who are both senior citizens were also in court during the sentencing procedure accompanied by close friends and relatives.

“I am very delighted for the twenty years sentence. We did not even know the culprit but are very much satisfied with the outcome,” said the 72 year old survivor.
