The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has welcomed the long jail sentence meted out to a 36 year old man by the Morebeng Regional Court.

The sentencing followed an incident that occurred at Botlokwa Eis Leven on 14 October 2017. The accused raped his 9 year old younger sister.

The victim’s mother immediately notified the police and investigations were activated by the Polokwane FCS. The case was assigned to Sergeant Abel Sello Moreroa for further investigation. Sergeant Moreroa hunted down the suspect until he apprehended him and ensured that he remained in custody.

On Thursday 7 November 2019, the accused was found guilty for rape and sentenced to life imprisonment.

General Ledwaba appreciates the outstanding job that the investigating officer did during to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice. Furthermore, General Ledwaba says the Police are forever dedicated to fighting crime and will do everything in their power to serve all people in Limpopo and ensure criminals face the full might of the law.
