Man critical after alleged cash-in-transit heist near Tzaneen

A man, believed to be in his 40s, was left critically injured yesterday following a cash-in-transit heist at the R71 and R36 intersection outside of Tzaneen in Limpopo.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the initial scene to find a light motor vehicle on the side of the road. Numerous members of the local authorities were on the scene.

A short time later. Paramedics were informed that a patient was found approximately 3km further down the R36.

On arrival, paramedics found a man lying on the side of the road. Assessments showed that the man had sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder and another to his abdomen, leaving him in a critical condition.

Treatment and advanced life support were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilize the patient’s vital signs. Once treated, the man was transported to a nearby private hospital for further treatment.

The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
