Tumi Mokwena, who has been acting as Malema’s lawyer, is being charged with attempted murder after firing shots at workers at the Zebediela citrus.
One worker lost his finger in the shooting at a wage dispute between Mokwena and farm workers. Farm manager Jacobus Swanepoel testified in court that Mokwena’s life was not in danger and that the shots he fired were unnecessary.
The shooting started when 30 to 40 workers confronted him. However, the magistrate found him innocent on four counts of attempted murder despite state witnesses statements.
