The leader of the EFF, Julius Malema, believes his lawyer is innocent.
The attorney, Tumi Mokoena, has already appeared in court on charges of attempted murder after he apparently shot at farm workers at the Zebediela Citrus farm. He has now been released on bail of R10 000.
Apparently, the workers tried to chase him with sticks as they did not want him there. His defense is that he shot in self-defense, with the result that farm workers were shot and still in the hospital.
Malema says it was simply an “unfortunate incident,” and he now wants to mediate the real reason behind the incident.
