LIMPOPO — In a significant Lephalale drug arrest, local law enforcement authorities have taken a 48-year-old Nigerian national into custody after uncovering a substantial cache of illegal narcotics. The bust, which resulted in the seizure of Cat and Crystal Meth with an estimated street value of R10,000, highlights ongoing efforts to combat substance abuse and illicit trafficking in the region.
The proactive operation was executed on the morning of Tuesday, 21 July 2026, at approximately 08:00 in the Onverwacht area. Acting on intelligence regarding a male suspect allegedly dealing drugs, members of the Lephalale Detectives collaborated with the K9 Dog Unit for a planned raid. Upon arriving at the suspect’s residence, officers were granted consent to search the premises, which directly led to the discovery of the illicit substances.
According to a Lephalale police spokesperson, the search yielded a detailed inventory of narcotics hidden at the property. Officers confiscated three 5-gram packets and twenty-one 2.5-gram packets of Cat, alongside five 2.5-gram packets of Crystal Meth. The spokesperson confirmed that the suspect was arrested on the spot for drug possession.
Following the Lephalale drug arrest, the 48-year-old foreign national was processed by authorities. He is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 23 July 2026, where he will face formal charges of possession of drugs.
Law enforcement officials noted that police investigations into the matter remain ongoing as detectives work to gather further evidence and dismantle local drug distribution networks.
