The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the life imprisonment sentence handed down by the Mahwelereng Regional Court on Monday, 30 June 2025, to a 22-year-old man from Ga-Madiba Village for the rape of a 13-year-old boy.

The court heard that on Saturday, 4 November 2023, at approximately 08:00, the young victim was at a local car wash when the accused, who was known to him, approached and suggested they go look for donkeys. When the boy refused, the man forcibly dragged him into nearby bushes, where he assaulted and raped him.

After the attack, the victim, unfamiliar with the area, asked the perpetrator to accompany him home. The brave child later reported the incident to his aunt, who immediately alerted the police. The suspect was arrested the following day.
