The South African Police Service in Limpopo continue to acquire heavy jail terms to dangerous criminals, particularly those who perpetuate their criminality against women and children in some parts of this Province.

This was evident when this week, the Regional Court in Mokerong outside Mokopane sentenced Thlako Lodwick Chuene (39) to life imprisonment for raping an elderly woman.

The accused raped his elderly neighbour, aged 76, on 11 December 2015 at about 21:30, in the Gelead Policing precinct outside Mokopane.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has complimented the Mahwelereng Cluster Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for the job well done.

“This incarceration will send a clear message to all the criminals out there that anyone who is still perpetrating this type of crimes, will be dealt with mercilessly and without compromise,” concluded Lieutenant General Ledwaba.
