In a relentless effort to deal with incidents of burglaries throughout the Province, a joint intelligence driven operation was conducted by the Provincial Crime Intelligence Task Team together with the Thohoyandou Detectives, Makhado Police and the Thohoyandou POP Unit focusing on suspects involved in a series of burglaries in and around the Thohoyandou and Makhado Clusters.

During this operation, a 34 year old man from Tshisahulu village was arrested.

The suspect was allegedly terrorizing members of the communities for some time by committing house breaking and theft in areas of Thohoyandou, Muledane, Shayandima, Itsani, Tshisahulu and Makhado.

More arrests are expected and the suspect may be connected to more similar crimes as the Police investigations are still unfolding.

The suspect will appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen property, possession of firearm without license and burglary.

Meanwhile in Mundzhedzi ,Vleifontein area outside Makhado, the police intercepted a house robbery in progress at Mundzhedzi spaza where eight suspects were busy robbing this business. During this operation, two suspects aged 25 and 36 years were arrested.

This suspect was terrorizing members of the community committing burglary at business premises in and around the Waterval and Makhado Policing areas and also in the Kanana and Moletjie areas in the Seshego Policing areas outside Polokwane.

The suspect will appear before the Louis Trichardt and Makhado Magistrate’s Courts respectively soon on various offences including possession of suspected stolen property.

We have delivered on our promise to the citizens of Limpopo by dealing with this crime category because it is affecting their daily lives. Our strategies have been sharpened and will continue to squeeze crime, said the SAPS Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Ledwaba.

The General has further commended the Provincial Crime Intelligence Task Team, the SAPS Thohoyandou Detectives, Makhado Police and the Thohoyandou POP Unit for their sterling efforts in the fight against crime.
