The Saps Provincial Tracking Team have today intercepted a trio crime syndicate few minutes after they committed a business robbery at Tubatse Crossing Mall in the Burgersfort CBD.

It is alleged that three suspects robbed a jewellery shop at the shopping mall and fled the scene with a vehicle at high speed.

While the suspects were driving along the R555 road, they met with the Tracking Team members who were made aware of this incident and tried to pull them off the road. They resisted and started to shoot at the police vehicle and the police members retaliated and a high speed car chase ensued until the suspect’s lost control over the vehicle into the bushes alongside the road. All the suspects fled the scene in the bushes.

The items taken during the robbery included jewellery estimated to thousands of rands were recovered. The vehicle which was used by the suspects, was reported stolen last week Friday and was taken during a house robbery in Tubatse Township outside Burgersfort.

The suspects in this matter are still unknown and there is no arrest.
