The police at Masemola in Sekhukhune District are investigating an inquest docket following the death of a 54- year-old male suspect who was facing charges of attempted murder.
The incident happened on Tuesday, 18 July 2023, in the evening at around 19:00.
According to the reports the deceased was initially detained at Jane Furse Police Station and later booked to SAPS Masemola’s as part of investigation.
Reports indicate that the Deceased seemingly had complications while still in the Holding Cell at Masemola SAPS
He allegedly collapsed and was pronounced dead on the scene by Medical Personnel.
The cause of death is unknown at this stage. The investigation is still continuing. Post mortem is still to be conducted to establish the cause of death.
The matter was reported to IPID for their further investigation.
Police investigations are underway to determine the cause of death.
