The South African Police Service in Polokwane are investigating an inquest case and theft of food parcels worth thousands of rand which were intended to feed school learners around Mankweng policing area.

It is alleged that on Wednesday 12 October 2022 at about 07:45, police received a complaint about a known male who allegedly committed suicide at a rental residence along Hans van Rensburg Street in Polokwane town and quickly rushed to the said place.

Upon arrival, police found him hanging from the roof inside the bathroom and immediately summoned members of the Local Criminal Record Center (LCRC) together with the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) who certified him dead on the scene.

The deceased was positively identified by a relative at the scene as Ayanda Makgati Mphakane, aged 34, from Ga-Mphahlele, Rapotela village.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was working for a Klein-Tech Feeding Scheme Company which was supplying food to the schools in Mankweng policing precinct. Reportedly, the deceased illegally sold a stock of two months that was intended to the schools to an unknown person in Mokopane policing area.

Prior to the incident, the deceased was supposed to take the police to the exact location where he sold the stolen properties amounting to thousands of rand in Mokopane for their recovery but it never materialized as he was found dead at the premise which was used for storage.

The motive of the incident is currently unknown at this stage and police are on a manhunt of the unknown suspect responsible to have purchased the Feeding Scheme food.
