A 33-year-old suspected cash in transit robbery suspect is under police guard following his arrest on 09 November 2023.

On 15 March 2019, G4S Cash Solutions security guard had just collected money from different shops at Mvusuludzo Mall in Thohoyandou when he was accosted by three (3) armed men who started shooting at him. The security guard also returned fire. The suspects managed to take money from the guard who was seriously injured and ran away. During the shooting, three (3) bystanders were also injured.

On 05 November 2023, the Musina based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation and Vhembe Trio Task Team members received information about the cash in transit robbery suspect who was admitted to Tshilidzini hospital after being involved in a vehicle accident.

The team visited the suspect at the hospital but he was not found as it was alleged that he was moved and taken to another private hospital by his family members.

The investigation continued and led the team to Gauteng Province where the suspect was found in one of the hospitals with injuries and he was placed under arrest.

The suspect will appear in court soon where he will be facing robbery and four (4) counts of attempted murder.

The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Limpopo Province Major General Gopz Govender is ecstatic about the arrest of the suspect and promised that other outstanding suspects will soon be arrested.
