LIMPOPO — Law enforcement officials have executed a successful unlicensed firearm arrest in Sekhukhune, apprehending a 29-year-old man after discovering an illegal weapon and ammunition during a targeted raid in Limpopo.
The bust occurred during a coordinated tactical operation spanning July 23 to July 24, 2026. According to police spokespersons, the mission was a joint effort involving the Sekhukhune District Tactical Team, the local Investigation Team, and officers from the Zaaiplaas police station.
Spokespersons noted that the deployment was triggered by intelligence gathered from an active probe into a robbery with aggravating circumstances. Acting on a specific tip-off, detectives zeroed in on a suspect allegedly harboring an illegal weapon at a residence in the Madala Stands section.
Upon arriving at the location, officers formally identified themselves before proceeding to conduct a lawful search of the suspect’s room. The search yielded one 9mm firearm alongside 10 rounds of live ammunition. When questioned, the man could not provide a valid certificate or license for the weapon, prompting his immediate detention on charges of illegal possession.
Police spokespersons confirmed that the suspect is scheduled to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court on July 27, 2026. Authorities emphasized that investigations remain active as detectives continue to follow up on leads, reinforcing broader community safety initiatives aimed at keeping guns off the streets.
