House robbery: Hoedspruit Farm Watch assist in arrest, Phalaborwa

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe lauds the excellent investigation and effective partnership between the Police and community which resulted in the arrest of two suspects aged 29 and 37 following a house robbery that took place in Phalaborwa on 16 June 2022 at about 16:30.

The suspects were arrested following a well- coordinated operation comprising of Phalaborwa Detectives and Tracing Team led by the Acting Station Commander with assistance of the Community and Hoedspruit Farm Watch.

This after a 37-year-old man and his family were robbed of a cellphone, cash amount of money, house keys and a VW Polo motor vehicle at gunpoint. Later on the same day at about 22:00, one suspect was traced to Namakgale but he managed to evade the arrest.

The Police, joined by community members, recovered one of the robbed items (cellphone.) The second suspect was arrested shortly in Hoedspruit with assistance of the local Farm Watch, in possession of the robbed motor vehicle and Crystal meth drugs.

Further investigations led the police back to the complainant’s house after it was discovered that he is actually dealing in drugs. The 37-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of Crystal meth drugs after he attempted to flush them out of the toilet.

Provincial Commissioner has further praised the joint efforts of the Police and the community members which led to the arrest of these suspects and helped in the fight against mushrooming of drugs in the province.

The suspects will appear in the Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 June 2022 facing charges of house robbery, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and possession of drugs.

The search for the remaining suspect continues.
