The Police in Westernburg, Limpopo are still looking for a group of community members after a tavern owner’s business premises, house and three cars were set alight early this morning.
It is alleged that today at about 01:10, the Police received a complaint regarding an armed robbery at a tavern in Extention 44. Members reacted swiftly and upon arrival, they found that the wife of the tavern’s owner had allegedly shot two males. One of the men died on the scene and the other man was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
The local community then gathered at the tavern and started attacking the family whilst they were trapped inside the tavern and house. Community members set the tavern, house as well as three cars alight. Three state vehicles were also damaged.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, have warned community members not to take the law into their own hands and said that no stone will be left unturned until all those who are involved, are brought to book.
