Mrs. Tanya Wiers savagely murdered in her home. Her son (16) came home from school and found her half-naked body in the house. Her eyes were pulled out of their sockets with a sharp unknown object and she died of multiple stab wounds. The suspect was so arrogant that he carved out his name on the door of a cupboard.
The High Court in Polokwane has sentenced a 31 year old, Mashilo Frans Maela from Ga-Mamadi village outside Senwabarwana, to two life imprisonments for rape and murder, plus 15 years imprisonment for robbery.
The accused, attacked Tanya Wiers at Eduan Park in the City of Polokwane on 7 February 2017. He stabbed the victim with a knife more than thirty times. Afterwards, the 47 year woman was raped and murdered before he robbed the deceased of her belongings and fled the scene.
The Police were notified, reacted immediately and the suspect was apprehended the same day and positively linked to the crime. Maela was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has relished the long term incarceration handed to the heartless criminals such as Maela.
“Justice was served and individuals like him, do not deserve to live with the community, but in prison,” Concluded General Ledwaba.
