The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in Limpopo Province has launched an intensive manhunt for the suspects who allegedly ambushed, robbed and killed Fidelity Security guard on Saturday, 25 November 2023.
It is alleged that on the day at about 15:00 Fidelity Security guards were driving on the R37 road near Thokgwaneng village in Mecklenburg police area when their armoured vehicle was rammed by a Mercedes Benz and forced to stop.
It is further alleged that the suspects fired shots at the armoured vehicle before they robbed the guards and made off with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects allegedly used a silver BMW 3 series as their getaway vehicle.
Three guards were injured during the shooting and one of them died on the way to hospital.
The Hawks are appealing to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Warrant Officer Mojapelo on 071 481 6876 or contact the nearest police station. Members of the public are warned not to tamper with the scene of crime as some of them reportedly picked up the money that was laying around.
The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Limpopo Province Major General Gopz Govender has already ordered the investigation team to zealously hunt down the suspects and bring them to justice.
