The Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation team arrested a 44 year old man for bribing a police official in Modimolle on Wednesday.
The suspect allegedly approached a detective who is investigating a case of business robbery against his brother and promised to pay him R14 000-00 to make the docket disappear.
The matter was reported to the Hawks and the suspect was arrested in a sting operation after he had just paid the said amount. The arrest follows two similar incidents that occurred in Thohoyandou and Seshego where the investigators ensured that the perpetrators were also arrested following bribery attempts.
The suspect will appear today at the Modimolle Magistrate Court to face corruption charges.
