The successful investigations by the Police Detectives wing continue to remove more criminals from our society with the ongoing heavy sentences acquired from various Courts in this Province.

In Villanora outside Lephalale, Motswere Jan Makgae (20) was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape by the Lephalale Regional Court.

This lengthy jail term emanated from an incident where a 13 year old victim was dropped by a bus near her home en route from school in Shongwane 2 area and decided to walk home using footpath that crosses the bushes.

The accused followed her in the bushes to a secluded area between Shongwane 3 and Bangalong villages when he subsequently raped her.

The SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended the SAPS Lephalale Family Violence, Child protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for a job well done and he encouraged all other SAPS members, especially in the Detective environment, to double their efforts until all perpetrators of offence are permanently removed from our society.
