A 48-year-old Taxi owner was arrested for attempted murder in the Mokwakwaila Policing area outside Tzaneen. It is alleged that, in the early hours of Friday, 27 March 2020, at about at 02:00, at Senakwe village, a woman aged 53 who is a taxi owner was attacked while sleeping with her niece aged 23 by a group of armed suspects, among them, was a well-known former member of a taxi association.

During this incident, the suspects robbed the victim (53) of cash and she was shot multiple times before they fled the scene while the niece escaped unharmed.

The Police were notified and responded swiftly. The SAPS Tzaneen Cluster Task Team took over the matter and the initial investigations and manhunt ensued until the suspect was arrested within a short space of time.

The victim is still recuperating at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect is still being profiled and he may be linked to more similar incidents of crimes in the area. He will be charged with attempted murder and he will appear before the Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 March 2020.
